French Talk! Week 5

French Talk on this week! (20 August to 24 August).

From 1-2PM on Monday (TLC-404), Tuesday (TBA) and Thursday (TLC-107)

TLC-404 is just opposite TLC-415 if you're having trouble finding it!

Monday and Tuesday will share the same theme while Thursday will have its own.

Update:
French Talk will be meeting up on Tuesday near the Thomas Cherry Building (aka Student Hub/ science drive bus stop) at the pyramid between the building and the bus stop. Go to this link to see what the pyramid looks like. It's just to the left of the Thomas Cherry building on this map.

After Action Report & French Talk Times This Week!

Salut tout le monde! 

French Talk yesterday went well, apart from a minor mishap with the study booth number. We broke down two texts: Stomae’s song Papaoutai (+ lyrics) and a tv5monde article on le premier homme dans l’espace (just search for the preceding french and for tv5monde to find it). 

Everyone took turns at reading the text en français and then repeating the meaning in English. Apart from one person who left early, everyone really enjoyed the activity. Thank you to the Ivanhoe Library French Group for inspiration!

We’ll hold another French Talk the same time next week (Thursday 1pm-2pm, Group Study Room 1-14) as well as on Monday 1pm-2pm, (TLC-107) and Tuesday 1pm-2pm (TLC-204).

The Melbourne International Film Festival is here again! See great movies from around the world (including francophone countries) up until the 19 of August. Click here for SBS French's interview with the artistic director, Michelle Carrey, where various French films being shown are discussed. Click here for a listing films with at least some French or French connection on the official website! We'll be arranging an outing to one of the films sometime next week!

French Talk!
Behind the scenes we are working on organising French Talk sessions again! By Friday we should have an online survey up to find out what times are suitable for you. This semester we will be running both free conversation sessions and also more structured sessions based around three or so French materials such as articles, excerpts from films, songs and so on.
